Switch Things Up | Diet, Fitness & Self Care

It can be extremely important to change up your routines so you have variety in your life. It also prepares you for when CHANGE hits you, when life switches things up and everything starts to shift. If you can get yourself use to AND excited for change, you’ll have a stronger foundation for when change happens out of your control.

SO! Let’s talk about some new ideas for you, shall we?

NUMBER ONE: DIET

If you’re anything like me, you’ll eat the same meal/snack over and over again because you love it so much. The problem with this is your body may become temporarily intolerant to it. You may experience bloating & gas from over consumption of the same meal. Your body is always changing and evolving as well, so giving it variety helps it to thrive. NUMBER TWO: FITNESS

Change up your fitness routine, and if you don’t have one, get one! It’s so important for blood circulation, de-stressing, getting your heart rate up, connect your mind and body, healthy sleep & digestion, and so much more. Now here’s where you can switch things up.
If you go to the same yoga classes every week, or practice the same styles, try a NEW class. OR the same class but at another studio. Exposing yourself to different classes and different teachers can help you immensely in your personal practice, and adds a new experience to your minds awareness.
If you workout at the gym and are always lifting weights, maybe try a different routine, or add in some HIIT workouts, or start picking up walking or riding a bike.
If you only do cardio based HIIT plyometric type of workouts, maybe add in some weights for a boost of strength and challenge.
Whatever it is your doing, try something new. Take a boxing class, a pilates class, a new yoga class, join a fitness group at your gym, go swimming, start riding your bike, go on runs/walks/jogs, dance, jump on a trampoline, just get your body moving, and try something new.

NUMBER THREE: SELF CARE
Self care is one of your most IMPORTANT responsibilities as a human being. It is the most precious gift you could give yourself. Not only does it feel good, but it’s a huge act of self love and drastically reduces your stress. If you haven’t tried RESTORATIVE YOGA before, its amazing for de-stressing your body and mind. Have you tried dry brushing before? It stimulates your skins cell, exfoliates your skin, gets blood circulating to the area you’re massaging, helps to drain your lymphatic system, and can reduce cellulite. Start with circular motions always moving in the direction of your heart. I start with my feet & Legs, my hands up my arms, my belly/back/butt, and gently on my chest. It’s great to do before you hop in the shower so you can clean yourself off afterwards.

Add in a new essential oil into your self-care routine. Geranium, Lavender & Tea Tree are all really great for healing acne.
Start taking hot baths and stay in them for 20 minutes in silence, and notice your thoughts leaving your body.
Massage your body!! Take time to physically touch yourself! Your body will LOVE it, and you will feel more connected and grounded within yourself.
Unwind MORE. Take more time to be alone. You can read a new book, listen to a new podcast, create a new recipe, practice Yin Yoga. Take time to chill out, and really allow yourself to rest.
