5 Ways to Boost Your Morning Routine

I don't know about you, but the way I begin my morning is crucial for a successful day. When you stop sleeping, your conscious thoughts subside, and you enter dream land. Your body starts to repair and rejuvenate itself from all the work you did the previous day. Your mind is at rest.

When you wake up, you have the power to allow the thoughts of yesterday to begin to flood in, bringing with it stressful energy, to-do lists, the urge to check your phone, and more. Your morning is a sacred, special time. You have the opportunity to reset everything, to start a new, to create a better, more fulfilling day.
Let's jump right into my 5 tips to help boost your morning routine.

1. Invest in a Tongue Scraper

I watch a lot of "Day In The Life" videos on youtube, and majority of the women I follow start their day off with a glass of water as soon as they get out of bed. I have a new idea for you, one that I find to be extremely satisfying. When you wake up, head right to your bathroom. Grab your tongue scraper and get to work. Open your mouth, stick your tongue out, and gently scrape your tongue from back to front. White residue will begin to form and cluster on your scraper, as you are ridding your mouth of bacteria excreted from your body overnight as it detoxifies. Wash your scraper off after a few strokes, and brush your teeth. Your mouth will feel clean, refreshed, and well taken care of.

2. Wash Your Face With Cold Water

It's no surprise that splashing some cold water on your face can help to awaken your senses in the morning. You can begin your morning washing your face with warm water and a gentle cleanser, and finishing with splashing ice cold water on your face for a burst of energy. If you're feeling bold, you can take a cold shower.

3. Let It Out

Write out your thoughts. As I mentioned earlier, it can be difficult to let go of the previous day once you wake up. After you've cleaned your mouth, drink a glass of water and grab your journal. Try not to put any pressure on what you want to write, simply write. Anything you feel in that moment, it could be any dreams you had, what you want to accomplish that day, how you are feeling energetically, and so on. Just start writing, and reducing the noise in your mind.

4. Meditate

I use an app called Insight Timer. It's an amazing app for meditation. You can use this app for guided meditations if you are new, or you can use the timer to meditate on your own. I set my timer for 10-15 minutes every morning. During that time, I sit still, cross legged with a pillow under my hips. I try to deepen and focus on my breath, and allow my thoughts to pass through without trying to pay attention to them. This takes time, I recommend starting with 5 minutes of silent meditation to begin. Slowly over time, you'll begin to catch yourself listening to a thought, and will gain the ability to bring your awareness to your breath once that happens. That cycle will continue, you will notice you're listening to a thought, and then you'll begin to focus on your breath instead. Over time the space between the thoughts will grow longer, and you'll find more moments of stillness and peace. Meditation will help to calm your mind down, preparing you for a more productive day.

5. Sage

I believe in the power of Sage. I believe it has its own healing energy. Once you are done mediating, light some sage and fan the smoke around your body to purify and cleanse you of negative energy. You can repeat a mantra or affirmation in your head if you would like as you cleanse. Here are a few examples:
- I am cleansed through this smoke
- I am capable of greatness today
- Money flows easily to me
- Opportunities flow naturally to me
- Miracles are bound to happen today
