Matcha Matcha Matcha.

I’m not someone who tends to want coffee in the morning like most people I know. I’m not a giant tea drinker either…however there are some mornings that I want a hot and tasty drink.

My choices usually reside between a Matcha Latte or Golden Milk (recipe coming soon).

The ingredients for the Matcha Latte are pretty simple. I tend to fancy my drink up a bit with some extra ingredients, so they will be optional for you.

Matcha is a fantastic source of slow releasing energy within the body. Unlike coffee that spikes your energy quickly and can often crash quickly, Matcha lasts much a longer, with a gradual incline and a gradual decline. I don’t drink this for the caffeine however, I simply do because I enjoy the taste. It’s creamy, unique and satisfying.

Most people I know can drink this without any added sugar, but unfortunately I am not one of those people. I LOVE this recipe with maple syrup (you can use any sweetener of your choice).


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp hot water (not boiling)
1 tsp ceremonial (bright green) matcha (most amount of health benefits)
Optional Add Ons:
1/2-1 tsp maca powder (hormone balancer)
1 tsp- 1 tbsp mct oil (source of healthy fat and sustainable energy)
1 tbsp maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
1/4 tsp cinnamon (balances blood sugar)

DIRECTIONS:

x Sift matcha powder into a mug, add hot water and whisk together until smooth.
x Heat up almond milk (or milk of your choice) until hot (but not boiling, this can damage the matcha and its benefits)
x Add almond milk to mug, stir, enjoy!

I like to add all of my ingredients to a blender, or I mix it with a small handheld whisker to smooth out any clumps from the maca or cinnamon. I prefer to add all the ingredients from above.

OR:

x Heat almond milk and water for 2 minutes in microwave, then add all ingredients to the blender and ENJOY!!
